Centre Wellington hockey staff wins OMHA championship

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Fusion (CWF) U18 staff gained the Ontario Minor Hockey Affiliation (OMHA) A Championship in Whitby on April 2.
One of the best 12 groups within the OMHA battled it out in a match type format to determine the playoff champion.
CWF swept the spherical robin final Friday with wins over the Collingwood Junior Blues and the Whitby Wildcats.
This set CWF up for a bye into the quarterfinals the place they met the New Hamburg Junior Firebirds — a staff they beat the week prior within the Tri-County Championship.
CWF defeated the Junior Firebirds 5-1.
The next Sunday morning CWF met the Welland Tigers within the semifinals and gained 2-1, sending them to the ultimate.
